No trip to Myrtle Beach would be complete without spending time at Broadway at the Beach. The 350-acre tourist mecca has a little bit of everything that can appeal to virtually every member of the family when they visit for vacation or a convention.

Broadway at the Beach has dining, attractions, nightlife and shopping. There are special events and activities that appeal to families and adults. You can sandwich some of the day’s fun events around an afternoon at the beach or a round of golf.

There are dozens of shops in the avenues of Broadway at the Beach. You’ll find them along the waterfront New England Fishing Village, Caribbean Village, Charleston Broadway and Heroes Harbor villages. The shopping areas are connected by walkways and a series of bridges that cross the lake, making it easy to get from one shop to another.

There are clubs that offer a variety of music, which means you’ll find something that is likely to be pleasing to your ear. Like country music? The Rodeo Bar and Grill offers a country western theme. The entertainers at Crocodile Rocks will play songs you request on dueling pianos. Or if you prefer oldies music, you might enjoy Revolutions, which specializes in songs from the 1970s.

If you’re looking for a little celebrity influence, you might want to check out Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, Planet Hollywood or the Hard art film Rock Café. You can enjoy a cold beverage and taking a look at some of the memorabilia that’s on display. Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville is a fun spot for anyone who claims to be a Parrot Head or who simply likes the laid-back style that’s espoused by the beloved singer. The Hard Rock Café is housed in a big pyramid-shaped building and features a large collection of rock and roll memorabilia by some of the world’s biggest stars.

Of course, you may just be looking for a little snack to top off the evening. Broadway at the Beach offers this, too, with Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream, the Cold Stone Creamery, River Street Sweets and The Fudgery. All are guaranteed to tickle your taste buds and satisfy your sweet tooth.

Whether it’s the variety that comes from the Carousel Park (which has a classic merry-go-round, a balloon ferris wheel and flying airplanes) or the Myrtle Waves Water Park (which features 30 rides and a million gallons of water), there are plenty of outdoor activities available. Why sit around all day inside a hotel room when you can get out and play!

If you appreciate marine life, you might be drawn to the Ripley’s Aquarium, which includes a 750,000 gallon shark tank and an interactive playground that the kids just love. This aquarium promises fun and surprises for the whole family.

You may only be looking for a quick diversion of time. The Carmike Cinema has 17 screens in one place, more than any other theater on the Grand Strand. The highlight is seeing a film on the BigD, a large-format digital theater that features a wall-to-wall giant screen that is 82 feet wide and more than three stories tall! It features the latest in 7.1 surround sound, with seats that are large, luxurious and easy to relax in.
